In S. AL I would suggest that you plant Clover Plus, Perfect Plot or Premium Perennial in the fall. In the springtime you'll have lush, green, nutritious perennials that will help your herd through the first stages of antler genesis and fawn rearing, but they will also be great attraction during hunting season.
However, with attraction being your main goal, quite honestly, the better majority of the plantings used mainly for hunting time attraction are planted during the fall in Southern Alabama. Things like Outfitter's Blend, Full Draw, Trophy Oats and Hot Spot are all fall plantings there.
If it were my property I would try and make the most out of my limited acreage and double-crop some of the plots. I would suggest planting one, or a combination of; BioMass, BioMass all Legume or Lablab. My favorite is BioMass all Legume because of the easy weed control. Depending upon the surrounding area I would also plant some BioMaxx or straight Round-Up Ready soybeans if you will likely have a problem with small plots of corn being browsed down. In the late summer I would make plans to work under the BioMass, Lablab and the R-U Ready beans, and replace them with fall plantings like Outfitter's Blend, Trophy Oats, Full Draw, Green Patch Plus, Hot Spot and others. Again, I would devote some acreage to perennials like Clover Plus and Perfect Plot. These will be great attraction for hunting time and good nutrition in the spring. Depending upon your exact location for the plots they may die during the hot, dry summer months. Many in the south treat perennials like annuals and replant them each year.
