Here are the last photos of Big Show for the year. We made the decision to cut his antlers today.  As you can see he was starting to beat up the tips of the beams and tines and unless he were to shed out immediately he would set himself up for infection. We are very passionate about the health of our animals and by removing Big Show's antlers now we feel confident that we will get a chance to Watch Him Grow again next summer.

Big Show is about done growing for the year.  He's still got a few black tips that may grow a bit more.  It looks like he will finish with somewhere around 40 points.  He will really start to pack on the weight during the next several weeks now that his antlers are about done growing.  His hormone levels will be changing, his hair will continue to turn into his fall coat and eventually his antler velvet will dry up and he'll shed in the coming weeks. What a great time of year!!!

     Big Show is continuing to put on tine length.  Almost all the antler tips are still black which means they are still growing strong.  A few of his brow tines look to be about a foot long and done growing at this point though. Our deer here in WI seem to start later but grow longer than deer farther south. We’re guessing Big Show still has a couple good weeks of growing left.

    Big Show is really starting to put on his tine length.  They are still round and growing vigorously.  The two flyers out to the sides are black on the ends which means the blood is still pumping to them hard.  His frame is awesome and the width and brow tines are hard to beat.
